The Species, Background, and God choices are all mandatory. You must be worshipping one of the gods listed above before entering Lair, Orcish Mines, the Vaults or Depths, unless this isn't possible in which case you must worship them as soon as you can. Don't use faded altars (except in challenges where you can choose any god), and don't do anything to lose your religion unless otherwise specified.

NOTE: Except for Beogh, Ignis, Jiyva and Lugonu, an altar for the other gods will ALWAYS show up by D:10.

Strategy

  • Being a dedicated ranged damage dealer comes with inherent and obvious advantages, but this character has limitations. As a naga you have slow speed, and for the most part you can only ever hit one target at a time. This means you need to be very careful about large engagements since if you get surrounded it is deadly. When entering a new floor, be especially cautious about venturing too far from a staircase at first. Even with slow speed you can still retreat back to it if a particularly dangerous foe appears at max distance when you are unprepared.

  • Your defenses will generally be weak. Heavy (or even medium) armor is rarely worth it, since you have deformed body, poor aptitude, and it slows your attack speed with ranged weapons. Evasion is better with high dexterity, but is still not ideal due to your large size and poor aptitude. Finally, most good ranged weapons require both hands so a shield is unlikely to be relevant.

  • To deal with this, early on you will want to rely on your excellent stealth aptitude and be sure to just skip any dangerous encounters which don't wake up. Once you get your ancestor though, things should be far better. The knight will gladly tank for you and the best part is you can freely fire through them. By carefully positioning yourself (along with transference as needed), you should be able to keep yourself out of harm's way.

Cosplay conduct points

1. Levelling up

Select Dexterity (DEX) at experience levels (XL) 3 and 9.

2. Bodyguard

Choose Knight as your ancestor.

3. The Bravery of Being Out of Range

Train Ranged Weapons to 16 or more (try to stay near min delay and then upgrade to bigger weapons).

Conducts are worth +5 points each, to a maximum of half your score from milestones, rounded down. (So if you achieve 3 milestones (15 points) you can earn up to 7 points from conducts.) Small mistakes in following conducts will usually be forgiven.

NOTE: for CCA, the first 2 conducts are usually to help you make choices at startup or in early game, while the 3rd conduct is usually a small fun challenge.

Bonus challenges

1. Tag In

Use Transference and Idealize at least 27 times in total.

2. Unforgettable

Reach six-star piety with Hepliaklqana... and get a rune!

Bonus challenges are worth one star each, similar to banners in Crawl tournaments. Small mistakes will usually be forgiven.

The 1st bonus can usually be accomplished after clearing the Dungeon (D), Lair (L) & the Orcish Mines (O), while the 2nd bonus will be a bit more challenging and will involve something like: "...and get your first rune!" as a caveat.

Milestones

  • Reach XL3.
  • Enter Lair, Orc, or Depths.
  • Reach the bottom of D, Lair, or Orc.
  • Collect your first rune.
  • Find the entrance to Zot. (Just using magic mapping doesn't count.)
  • Collect your third rune.
  • Win the game.

The main way to score points. +5 points each, and can be done in any order.
