Set 2 Week 1 : Polyphemus the Watchful Shepherd

A cyclops shepherd, he is very protective of his charges, whom he watches with an undying fervor through his single massive eye. Nevertheless, he won't hesitate to use them as projectiles in a pinch; after all, the best defence is a good offence.

The Species, Background, and God choices are all mandatory. You must be worshipping one of the gods listed above before entering Lair, Orcish Mines, the Vaults or Depths, unless this isn't possible in which case you must worship them as soon as you can. Don't use faded altars (except in challenges where you can choose any god), and don't do anything to lose your religion unless otherwise specified.

NOTE: Except for Beogh, Ignis, Jiyva and Lugonu, an altar for the other gods will ALWAYS show up by D:10.

Cosplay conduct points

1. Weapons

Don't wield anything. This means you're limited to unarmed and throwing attacks, but also you can't wield staves or other things for stat bonuses even if you don't plan on hitting enemies with them. Equipping a shield is fine.

2. Summonings

Train your Summonings skill to at least 16.

3. Magic

Don't cast any spells with Transmutations, Necromancy, or Conjurations schools, or those that are purely elemental and offensive in nature (e.g. Poisonsous Vapours, Ignition). Swiftness and Ozo's Armour are allowed. As an exception you can cast Haunt if you really want it.

Conducts are worth +5 points each, to a maximum of half your score from milestones, rounded down. (So if you achieve 4 milestones (20 points) you can earn up to 10 points from conduct bonuses.) Small mistakes in following conducts will usually be forgiven.

Bonus challenges

1. You Can't Fight What You Can't See

Don't equip any equipment that grants SInv (see invisible). You can still have the See Invisible or Antennae 3 mutations if you're lucky enough to get one.

Tip: Your ancestor can see invisible creatures, as can Canine Familiar, and many other higher-level summons. Some monsters like Unseen Horrors can be polymorphed fairly easily.

2. Meatshields Up!

Have your Armour, Dodging and Shields skill below 5 for the entire game. If you use crawl's skill target feature, be aware of the following bug:

  • If you gain a lot of experience from one enemy it is possible for a skill to exceed a set target. You might want to set a target of 4.5 or lower, to have a bit of margin for error, and maybe even don't train those skills if you're about to kill a difficult/high XP enemy like early Sigmund.

Bonus challenges are worth one star each, similar to banners in Crawl tournaments. Small mistakes will usually be forgiven.

Milestones

  • Reach XL3.
  • Enter Lair, Orc, or Depths.
  • Reach the bottom of D, Lair, or Orc.
  • Collect your first rune.
  • Find the entrance to Zot. (Just using magic mapping doesn't count.)
  • Collect your third rune.
  • Win the game.

The main way to score points. +5 points each, and can be done in any order.
