A huge beast, mightiest of hydras, infamous in myth and legend. It flows through the water faster than a human can run, swatting aside trees as though they were matchsticks. Its many heads slaver and gnash constantly as it hunts for prey to slake its bottomless appetite.
Species | Background | Gods |
---|---|---|
Merfolk | Transmuter | Ashenzari, Elyvilon, or Okawaru |
The Species, Background, and God choices are all mandatory. You must be worshipping one of the gods listed above before entering Lair, Orcish Mines, the Vaults or Depths, unless this isn't possible in which case you must worship them as soon as you can. Don't use faded altars (except in challenges where you can choose any god), and don't do anything to lose your religion unless otherwise specified.
NOTE: Except for Beogh, Ignis, Jiyva and Lugonu, an altar for the other gods will ALWAYS show up by D:10.
Hydra Form was removed in v0.27. Play v0.26 to get the original intent of this challenge without having to eat food.
Only train Fighting and Unarmed Combat for weapons skills.
Don't use any Conjurations or Necromancy spells.
Reach skill level 16 in Transmutations (base skill for Ash followers), and never cast Statue Form.
Conducts are worth +5 points each, to a maximum of half your score from milestones, rounded down. (So if you achieve 4 milestones (20 points) you can earn up to 10 points from conduct bonuses.) Small mistakes in following conducts will usually be forgiven.
Don't use any summoning spells, except Summon Hydra, from the time you enter Depths onward.
Don't train evocations, and don't use any wands, evocable items, or evocable abilities. (This includes evoking rage, flight, etc., but not reaching from polearms.) Equipment that provides evocable abilites can still be used, as long as you don't make use of those abilities. Boots of flying can be worn; you start out flying, and are prevented from landing while wearing them, under this challenge.
Clarification on abilities: Only evocable abilities are prohibited. God abilities and others that don't use evocations (blink from mutation, dragon's breath, etc.) are still allowed.
Bonus challenges are worth one star each, similar to banners in Crawl tournaments. Small mistakes will usually be forgiven.
The main way to score points. +5 points each, and can be done in any order.
